First up - Can't Say No by Conor Maynard. I know, I know. You must be thinking that based on the previous "Song of the Week" posts, this would not have been the first thing to pop up into your brains. I'm not saying that I like any of the lyrics of this song because I honestly don't. It's just that it was way too catchy for me to let it go. (And he's not a bad singer, anyway.)
Next would be White Winter Hymnal by Birdy (originally by Fleet Foxes). Now, I don't know if I've emphasized how much I love Birdy on this particular blog of mine. If I haven't, I'm telling you now that I LOVE HER. She is awesome. I genuinely want to be her friend for so many reasons (none of them include her fame or fortune).
(This really doesn't have any music video so...just listen and be mesmerized.)
So this song is mostly about the harmonies. I've seen quite a number of comments about how the Fleet Foxes' version was better because the whole point of the song was the harmonies and they felt that harmonizing with yourself seemed strange. Well, let me tell you this - WHO CARES. I mean, Birdy got the point, right? She understood that the whole point of the song was to harmonize, therefore she harmonized (with herself). And she did it well.
The last song for this week is Three Rounds and a Sound by Blind Pilot. This song was also from the playlist that one of my best friends gave me.
I didn't really appreciate it at first but I don't know what it was, but it got to me. I listened to it for awhile and this may sound funny but I actually look sad when I listen to it. Wherever I am, I seem to put on this face like I'm sad...it's pretty weird. But I guess that's how much the song has an impact on me. Although I cannot relate completely, I feel a LITTLE connection with it. Just a little. Just a pinch.
They're playing our song,
They're playing our song...
So there you have it! Three songs for the week. Hope you enjoy these songs as much as I do!
(If you're wondering why I didn't bother to put a video of Can't Say No, then it is because it's a pretty popular song. But if you don't know it, go and look for it!)
